Number Rods Set

Our Edx Education® Number Rods Set helps children see and touch how numbers work. Each of the 10 rod lengths, from 1cm to 10cm, has its own colour, so as children line them up, compare them and combine them, they move from concrete representation to abstract thinking, building real number sense along the way.

The rods are ideal for learning addition, subtraction, part-part-whole, multiplication and fractions. Children can lay a 9 rod and a 6 rod next to a 10 rod and a 5 rod and see for themselves that 9 + 6 = 15, no worksheet needed. The grooves of the lid match the combined lengths of the rods, turning the tray itself into a play board where children explore number combinations within 15.

Beyond the maths, the rods are a building set too. Children can stack and connect them into 2D and 3D structures, developing creativity and problem solving skills alongside numeracy, measurement and operations. When play is done, the storage guides in the tray show exactly where each rod belongs, so tidying up becomes a sorting activity in itself.
